FML Syndrome

Yes this image is borrowed from here

If you're unfortunate enough to know what FML means, I do apologize for how my generation and those after it have successfully butchered the beauty of the English language into textable, tweetable format.  If you don't know what FML stands for, ask a kid who has no real social skills but an overly-developed texting ability.  It's not good.

Healthy Meals - A Slideshow

Amazing homemade apple sauce from a client
It's picture week here on the Erica Show, so I figured I'd share some pictures of the healthier meals I've been preparing this semester while on my 6-months of sensitivity-free eating!  (Note: I've been avoiding my personal sensitivities, which are not the same as all the foods listed on the Elimination Diet / Hypoallergenic Diet.)  Here goes!

Adventures in Juicing!

So coming off my Water Fast, I decided to do a lot of liquids including juicing and soups.  One of the first that I had was just pure OJ to get my glucose levels back up.  We don't wanna do fruits too much because it can wreak havoc on our blood sugar levels.

Three Things

Yes this image is borrowed from Here
1) I fainted in Asian Medicine Point Location today.  We have moved on to the first half of the Triple Warmer / San Jiao channel, which starts on the fourth (ring) finger and travels on the posterior arm up towards the face.  We've ended at TW9 which is almost halfway between the wrist and elbow.

Hydrotherapy!

In the spirit of photo entries while I am busy as sin with school, let's delve into hydrotherapy!

Healthy Body Care

So I thought it was about time to touch on the homemade body care front again, slash natural products in general front.  Being one to be a bit obsessed with it, I'll give you the low down.

The Super-Powered Vegtastic V9 Shake

So I've graduated.  In the same way that we can't go straight from kindergarten into university, we must take small steps over the course of time to reach the next destination in our pursuit of health and wellness.  Where I spent two decades despising vegetables, I have now - 6, or perhaps 26 years later - graduated to an all-vegetable green smoothie!

Waiting for my Spa Day

Well, that's about it for now, I've made the trek from downtown Toronto to the Rogers studio in Mississauga for four weeks in a row now, I've done my two shows, I've watched two others, it's about time for a welcomed break!  I have five weeks off until I'm back there for my next show - hopefully even better this time!

I have to say, between going to med school full time (about 40 hours a week), booking the guests, getting things set up, running whole life my business, launching new programs, and so forth, I really have no more energy left, I've reached my own limits.  I'm about ready to call it a day, pack my bags, and move to the country.  A different country altogether.  Hang up my hat on all these shenanigans in favour of a simpler life, one that involves sleep and not being out and busy 80 hours a week.  I currently don't have the strength to continue with anything that I am doing, and hope that I can find it in some rest in the coming days, though what with all we've got on our plates at CCNM I highly doubt it.  I can sit here and say 5 weeks.  Five weeks til I gotta go do that again, and five weeks til I am done my first year of medical school.  What a sweet sweet welcome relief that will be.

I am just too weak to take on anything right now.  I thank the universe for the opportunities, but being as spent as I am, I am of no benefit to anyone at all.

And that's when you call your Mom for a spa day.

Spring Equinox:
The Equinox happens twice each year, in Spring and in Fall, when the centre of the Sun is on the same plane as the Earth's equator. Spring for all of us represents a period of renewal, regrowth, the shedding of the old to welcome something new. Use this as a powerful time of cleansing, whether it is Spring cleaning your closets, or taking on a healthier diet to aid in internal cleansing of old debris. Dandelion greens are historically the first green to pop up in the spring and are very cleansing to bogged down livers that have had to put up with traditionally over-indulgent winters. Steam fresh dandelion greens and have them as your side dish, or stir fry with garlic and olive oil, to help get that liver in gear for a new and wondrous season!

To book any of the Active or Passive Kinesiology Services, to book One-on-One nutritional services, or to Register for the Group Nutrition Base Program, please call me at the number below.

Happy Spring 2011!

CCNM Final Exam Schedule Year 1 Winter

Here she is, the final exam schedule for Year 1, and I am soo soo happy to be seeing the light at the end of this tunnel.  However there is an exam scheduled on Good Friday that I have a feeling they will be changing, especially considering the school is CLOSED on Good Friday.  Anyways here goes:

Monday April 18th - Physiology Exam 1pm, Physiology Bellringer 4:30pm

Tuesday, April 19th - Asian Medicine Point Location practical exam TBA (in the morning) got to locate 5 and needle 3 points

Wednesday, April 20th - Anatomy Bellringer at U of T (this is going to be ROUGH!) probably at 3pm, depending on your lab time

Thursday, April 21st - Embryology exam, 9am

Friday, April 22nd (Good Friday) - Nutrition Exam, 1pm

Monday, April 25th - Anatomy Exam, 10am

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we have OFF!!!!!!  Except of course once nutrition gets moved.  I am soooooo so happy about this!  And the fact that we have an ENTIRE weekend to study for the two physiology components, and an entire weekend to study for Anatomy (though it will be Easter which is a bit sucky).  I also feel that I have ample time to study for all the rest.  It won't be such a rough exam period after all - we hope!
